Personal Statement

I was born and raised in Northwest Mexico, in the beautiful state of Durango. Durango is best known for its scenic waterfalls, hot springs and beautiful mountains. Durango is also called La tierra del cine( the land of cinema) and the land of scorpions.

I first came to the Land of Enchantment at the age of 27, and I fell in love with the cultural diversity and rich heritage of New Mexico. I have been working as a Spanish Interpreter at the UNM Cancer Center for more than 7 years. I feel fortunate to be able to help our vulnerable Hispanic community who have language barriers. In my free time, I enjoy movies, hiking, reading and meditation.
