Research and Scholarship
Early in my career I was involved in characterization of inflammatory arthritis in a murine model of lupus/rheumatoid arthritis, followed by the demonstration that administration of anti-CD4 antibodies completely prevented the development of all manifestations of autoimmunity in the same murine strain. Subsequently I was involved in studies relating to the role of the cytokine TGF-beta in susceptibility to infection in autoimmune mice.
