Biography
Pentz received a B.S. in Biology in 1980 and her medical degree in 1985 at MCOT, now known as University of Toledo in Ohio. She completed a combined Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry from 1985-1990 at the same university. She is board certified in adult, child/adolescent psychiatry and via the ABIHM, is board certified in Integrative Medicine.
Areas of Specialty
Integrative mental health with focus on use of nutrients, nutrition, diet and lifestyle to support mental well being. Mind body medicine is an active component of interventions including breath work, yoga and mindfulness approaches.
I screen for nutrient deficiencies when I do my clinical assessments due to increased issues with poor nutrition, regardless of SES.

Courses Taught
I am the program director of the Integrative Psychiatry elective since 2018. I teach mindfulness meditation, nutrient support for mental health, and bring multiple clinicians and integrative practitioners from UNM and from the community. The intention is to create an evidence based perspective to options beyond pharmaceuticals in treating mental illness.
