Biography

Allison Phillips holds a Lecturer I faculty position in the pre- licensure degree program. Allison earned her Masters of Science in Nursing Education in 2019 with the goal of joining University of New Mexico's undergraduate nursing program. Allison earned her Baccalaureate of Science from UNM's College of Nursing, and holds a Baccalaureate of Science in Biology. Prior to joining UNM's College of Nursing, Allison was employed at University of New Mexico Hospital as a medical/surgical nurse, critical care nurse, manager, and educator. Allison brings many years of experience in professional development and clinical instruction to the College of Nursing.
Through nearly twenty years of nursing, Allison has focused on teaching students and novice nurses to use evidence to seek excellence in practice. As an Educator and Director at University of New Mexico Hospitals, Allison designed and implemented evidenced- based process improvement initiatives focused on education and staff training. She strives to teach her learners the importance of continuously working toward practice excellence.

Research and Scholarship

As a Student Experience Project Fellow, I participated in surveying students in their experience of inclusivity, support, and belonging in my undergraduate classes. Using best practices, I revised my syllabi and course communication practices to improve.
