Biography

Graduated from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center with an MD in 1983. Internal Medicine Residency training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1983 -86; Residency training in Dermatology from 1990-93.
Assistant/Tenured Associate/Professor of Medicine at Brody School of Medicine at ECU from 1993 - 1999 and 2000-2020. Staff Dermatologist at the Raymond Murphy VA and Affiliate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of New Mexico Deoartment of Dermatology.

Personal Statement

My primary interests are in medical Dermatology both inflammatory and Infectious. I also have an interest in the history of Medicine and inparticular the history of dermatology.

2016 - Linc p21and p 53 in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, A collaborative study with Dr. Rob Smart at NC State University looking at a long intergenic noncoding RNA sequence as a controlling factor in the impact of p53 as a contributing factor to squamous cell carcinoma.

2016 - The chemotherapeutic potential of 15-d-PMJ2 on Patient Primary Skin Tumor Cells - A study looking at a novel inhibitor of prostaglandin J2 on epithelial proliferation.

2015 - Characteristics of patients with catastrophic cutaneous carcinomatosis; looking at a subset of patients with 10 or more non-melanoma skin cancers in a calendar year; as well as non-melanoma skin cancers in Hispanics and African-Americans.

2010 - present - Seasonal variation in the diagnosis of skin cancer. Created an ongoing data base of all non-melanoma skin cancer to look at a variety of parameters
