Biography
Dr Carolina Ponce was born in Ecuador, she obtained her medical degree at Universidad Catolica de Guayaquil. Her Internal Medicine and Cardiology Fellowship were completed at University Of New Mexico in 2016 and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College in 2017. Dr Ponce was the first female fellow from UNM pursuing Interventional Cardiology as a subspecialty. She was also the first female fellow at Westchester Medical Center.
Areas of Specialty
Dr Ponce has a special interest in high-risk PCI, full revascularization using hybrid approach, cardiogenic shock, valvular disease including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, quality improvement projects and cardiovascular disease in women especially Cardio-Obstetrics.
In addition to her cardiology practice, she is pursuing new opportunities to get involved in global health initiatives to provide medical care in underserved communities.
Certifications
Board certified in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, playing soccer and volleyball.
