Biography
Doctor Giselle Rodriguez de Sosa earned her Doctor in Medicine degree (1998) from the School of Medicine at University of Panama. Following her MD degree she completed a 2-year residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Thomas Hospital in Panama. She completed a Master degree in Healths Informatics at the Italian Hospital in Argentina and has more than 20 years of experience in clinica research focus in chronic diseases. At UNM, she is core faculty member in the Clinical Informatics Fellowship and is the program manager for Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) Program in New Mexico.
Personal Statement
I have devoted my medical career to improving the care of patients with chronic diseases, with a strong focus on chronic kidney disease and its impact on vulnerable populations. My work bridges clinical practice, research, and health informatics, allowing me to design and implement innovative systems that improve patient engagement, quality of care, and equity in health outcomes. I am passionate about developing patient-centered approaches, from national electronic health record implementation to mobile health tools that support older adults in maintaining their independence and well-being. At the University of New Mexico, I am committed to advancing clinical research, mentoring future physicians in clinical informatics, and building programs that address the needs of underserved communities across the state.
