Personal Statement
I am very grateful to play a role in supporting children and their families as they connect with personal meaning & cultural inheritance, alter intergenerational cycles, and enliven their communities. I value approaches that are collaborative, personalized, strengths-focused, evidence-based, trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and holistic. I have a particular commitment to serving survivors of human rights abuses, including asylum-seekers, refugees, and indigenous communities. In addition to my clinical work at UNM and the Indian Health Service, I contribute to efforts to improve the mental health of children at a community-level via federal- and state-funded projects including NM-ABC and Project ECHO. I strive to be attentive, authentic, playful, open-minded, reliable, compassionate, and empowering with patients, trainees, & colleagues alike. I enjoy foraging for wild food, gardening, camping, yoga, reading, and engaging the beautiful land, multilayered culture, and deep history of New Mexico.
