Biography

Dr. Sheldon received his MD degree from the University of Buffalo in 1994. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania in 1997, his general cardiology fellowship at the University of New Mexico in 2001 and his interventional cardiology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in 2007. He has been a full-time faculty member at UNM since 2001.

Personal Statement

I chose to be an educator in the field of cardiology because I enjoy seeing the light come on in the eyes of residents and fellows as they learn how to handle patients with complex cardiovascular disease. In order to be a good educator and by working in an academic environment I am stimulated to keep up on the latest research and evidence based care for my patients and in my mentorship of trainees.
