Biography

Shields received a B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Health Studies and French, with a minor in Leadership Studies (2010), from Austin College. She earned a B.S. degree in Nursing (2012) and an M.S. in Nursing, dual-certified as a Nurse-Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner (2014), from Emory University. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (2022) at the University of New Mexico. Following her graduate training, she joined the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she has served as a Certified Nurse-Midwife since 2020.
