Biography

Wilmer L. Sibbitt, Jr. MD, originally from Los Alamos, New Mexico, has worked in Rheumatology at UNMHSC since 1980 and is interested in epidemiology of rheumatic diseases in New Mexico, ultrasound, medical device development, and procedural rheumatology. Presently, Dr. Sibbitt is part-time (working retired), but remains the Chair, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medical Director of the Clinical, Research, and Speciality Pharmacies, and Medical Director of the Outpatient Treatment Center. Dr. Sibbitt has 13 issued US Patents for various inventions, over 170 publications listed in PubMed, and numerous published abstracts and book chapters. He was the co-founder of 3 biomedical startup companies. Presently he continues epidemiologic and procedural outcome research, patient care, and works closely with fellows-in-training and early career faculty.

UNM Health Sciences Center is truly a jewel of the Southwest and has contributed enormously to the health and education of the people of New Mexico and the USA.
