Education
My main focus as an attending at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine has always been resident and medical student education. My teaching interests lie in all areas of anesthesia with a focus on acute pain management, regional anesthesia, and cardiac anesthesia. My research interests are also centered around regional anesthesia and pain management, having participated in numerous studies and the recruitment of numerous patients into ongoing studies. I try and teach residents and medical students as often as possible via direct clinical teaching, didactic teaching, mentoring in journal clubs and lectures, and mentoring with grand rounds presentations. I hope to continue working and improving in all of these areas. First and foremost, my own service interests lie in better resident and medical student education in anesthesiology. I seek to continue doing this with continued research projects, participation on committees, directing rotations (Acute Pain), providing excellent clinical teaching, providing excellent didactic teaching, and being the only attending in my department who belongs to two divisions (Regional Anesthesia and Cardiac Anesthesia divisions).
