Biography

Gerson Suarez-Cedeno, MD worked on in vitro research of the neuroprotective effects of antioxidants against toxins that cause Parkinson-like diseases during medical school. After graduating from Medical School, he worked as a primary care physician for the Colombian Red Cross in the Amazon region. He completed neurology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. During this time, he worked as a media ambassador promoting the stroke community outreach program and completed the physician education graduate program at the University of Texas Medical Education Department. Dr. Suarez-Cedeno performed a 2-year Movement Disorders Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he also worked on the implementation of telemedicine as a clinical teaching tool at the fellowship level and completed the Science of Clinical Investigation training graduate program at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr Suarez-Cedeno treats patients with Movement Disorders such as tremors, Parkinson's Disease, tics, dystonias, Huntington's disease and ataxias as well as botulinum toxin injections and deep brain stimulation management. He is interested in medical education, health disparities and clinical trials and the interphase between medical technology and Movement Disorders.

I am interested in clinical research related to the improvement of outpatient telemedicine in neurology and use of innovative technology to monitor and treat patients.
