Biography
Lisa M. Taylor, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, BC-ADM, C-DCES is a clinician educator - assistant professor at the University of New Mexico College of Nursing. Taylor attended Vanderbilt University, where she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice as well as her Master’s in Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. She also has board certification in advanced diabetes management, and is a certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (professional name change 2019).
Taylor has a broad interest in diabetes including how patients learn about this complex disease, diabetes care in rural/border states, and how the next generation of healthcare providers will learn how to provide culturally humble care. She has spent the bulk of her career as a nurse practitioner providing care to rural/under-served populations in Maryland and New Mexico. Additional areas of interest include how to best provide care to marginalized communities, particularly Blacks and other people of color, who often have the fewest resources, and to reduce disparities in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes.
