Biography
Erik Watson is currently Medical Director for the University of New Mexico's Department of Dental Hygiene. Dr. Watson is also Dental Corps Officer, United States Army Reserve, 7251st Medical Support Unit at Kirtland Airforce Base since 2013. He has graduated from Howard university with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (1996) and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (2005). Erik also earned a certificate in Advanced Education General Dentistry (2007) from Howard University and a certificate in Oral Implantology (2010) from the Medical College of Georgia. Some of his Scholarly Achievements include the American Dental Association Research Award (2004), and the Silver Forceps Award (2004), Department of Oral Surgery from Howard University.
Personal Statement
It is with great enthusiasm and appreciation that I have been given the opportunity to return to the UNM Department of Dental Medicine.
As the newly appointed Medical Director for the Department of Dental Medicine, I am reconnecting with staff, residents, colleagues and patients.
We are all working together to increase access to care and to improve quality, productivity and patient satisfaction. I am a proud 3 time graduate of Howard University and I have been a dedicated clinician, administrator, and educator for over 15 years here in our beautiful and amazing state of New Mexico.
UNM has been the highlight of my professional experiences and I am looking forward to carrying forth our mission for years to come.
