UNM Hospital Announces Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination Campaign

The University of New Mexico Hospital’s 2020-21 Influenza Campaign begins on Saturday, Sept. 26. UNMH is offering free flu vaccines with seven drive-thru clinics across the Albuquerque metro area, while supplies last.

Patients are asked to follow COVID-19 safety protocols by wearing a mask for all drive-thru clinics. For a faster experience, patients can fill out this pre-registration form prior to visiting a drive-thru clinic. Patients are also asked to wear a short sleeve shirt for easy access to the upper arm muscle.

According to the CDC, the annual flu vaccine is the best away to help protect against the flu and reduces the risks of flu illness, hospitalizations and the risk of flu-related death in children.

In 2018-19, the annual flu vaccine prevented an estimated 4.4 million influenza cases, 2.3 million influenza-associated medical visits, 58,000 influenza-associated hospitalizations and 3,500 influenza-associated deaths, according to the CDC. For more information on the seasonal flu vaccine, visit the CDC’s website.
