Correen Bales Named SRMC Human Resources Director
Correen Bales has been named Director of Human Resources at The University of New Mexico Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho. Bales will officially assume this role effective July 25, 2021. Until then she will serve as Interim Director of Human Resources.
Bales, a Corrales, N.M., resident, brings to her new role nearly 30 years of experience in health care-related human resource management in California, Arizona and New Mexico, said Jamie Silva-Steele, RN, MBA, SRMC’s president and CEO.
“I was very happy to welcome Correen back to SRMC earlier this year and am thrilled that she will be taking on this critical role for the organization,” Silva-Steele said.
Bales previously led SRMC’s Human Resources Department from 2011-2017, helping to open the facility in 2012. From 2017-2021, she was human resources director at Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque. Bales returned to SRMC in March 2021 as the Manager of Talent Acquisition and Development.
“We implemented a hiring and recruitment process that is based on established values,” Bales said of her earlier tenure at SRMC. “Due to our hiring practices and leadership, we were recognized as ‘The Best Place to Work’ for large companies in 2012 and 2016.”
In her new role, Bales is part of the SRMC executive team, reporting to the CEO. She will assist the organization with action planning on the most recent employee engagement results, will continue to advance recruitment, retention and development strategies and will focus on advancing all SRMC human resources systems.
