UNM Truman Health Services Selected as Pride Parade Grand Marshal

The 47th annual Albuquerque PrideFest has selected The University of New Mexico Truman Health Services as grand marshal of this year’s Pride Parade taking place Saturday, June 10.

As New Mexico’s premier health provider for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community, their families and other allies, UNM Truman Health Services provides a safe medical home with highest level of care and latest treatment options for New Mexicans living with HIV, requiring gender services, seeking Hepatitis C testing and treatment and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Albuquerque’s PrideFest is one of the oldest Pride celebrations in the United States. The parade celebrates the historic 1976 march in Nob Hill and is the second largest parade in New Mexico. UNM Truman Health Services will lead floats, classic cars, motorcycles, horses, dancers and supporters as they march through the Uptown neighborhood.

"For many years, Truman has been a part of the Albuquerque Pride tradition. By marching, testing and uplifting the community year-after-year, Pride and Truman have been partners, making a difference in our community,” said Craig LaBerge-Esparza, community health resources manager at UNM Truman Health Services.

“Being the Grand Marshal for the 2023 Pride Parade is an honor our entire team is so proud of. We are excited to help lead the parade down Central Avenue for its 47th year.”

Date: Saturday, June 10

Time: 10 a.m.

Parade route: Central Avenue and Wellesley Drive to San Mateo Boulevard
