Sandoval Regional Medical Center receives HealthInsight Quality Award

Rio Rancho, NM - Sandoval Regional Medical Center recently received a HealthInsight Quality Award for excellence in its quality control programs.

"We are honored to be presented with this award. HealthInsight has stringent criteria that can only be met by having providers and staff who have made a day-to-day commitment to quality care for every patient throughout the year," says SRMC Chief Executive Office Jamie Silva-Steele.

In informing the hospital, HealthInsight staff cited a number of markers the organization used in order to judge its hospitals. They included performance on health care-associated infections, patient experience surveys, 30-day hospital-wide readmissions and mortality measures. Hospitals who rank in the 75th percentile nationally on this combined score receive a HealthInsight Quality Award.

"Internal communication along with ongoing training are keys to the success of our program at SRMC," says Ramona Moseley, executive director of Quality and Patient Safety at SRMC.

HealthInsight is a private, non-profit, community-based organization operating in Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Utah. The organization seeks to foster significant and continuing improvement in the health of communities and the quality and effectiveness of health care.

The award was presented on September 27 at the New Mexico Hospital Association annual meeting.

SRMC opened its doors in 2012 with a mission to "improve the overall health of the community by providing the highest-quality health care services that meet the needs of Sandoval County's diverse population, as well as providing, increasingly over time, health care and medical educational opportunities through partnerships with the UNM School of Medicine, UNM College of Nursing, UNM College of Pharmacy and Central New Mexico Community College."
