Statement on Mary Han Ruling

The Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) has been informed that Judge Thomson has ruled the determination of death on Mary Han's autopsy report be changed from suicide to undetermined.

OMI investigated Ms. Han's death after she was found inside her car in her garage November 2010.

We have the following statement on today's court decision:

"We have the highest respect for the court but disagree with the judge's ruling in this case. Our experts conducted a complete and thorough investigation into Ms. Han's death and we stand by the autopsy determination that Ms. Han died as a result of a suicide. We will be exploring our options including appeal.

We continue to send our thoughts to Ms. Han's family. Our mission remains to investigate deaths to serve the living and we believe we have done that in this case." - Alex Sanchez, Public Information Officer for the UNM Health Sciences Center
