PC-BRIDGE is a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded hub based at the University of New Mexico to build research capacity in rural primary care clinics. We aim to help develop and implement studies tailored to the unique needs of rural populations and advance community-responsive clinical research across New Mexico and Arizona.

Tai Chi Knee: This study evaluates the effectiveness of virtual Tai Chi classes for improving pain in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. We enrolled over 50 participants from NM and will share study outcomes as they are available.
SUPERA: The SUPERA study supports implementation of digital cognitive behavioral therapy (dCBT) for Spanish-speaking populations. This study is ongoing, enrolling in clinics across central and northern New Mexico.
We are developing two projects with the NIH. One is about optimizing telehealth implementation of diabetes care, and the other is on the implementation of hearing loss assessments. To ensure these trials are practical in rural environments, we are conducting two community-centered, virtual focus groups called studios. We would love to have your medical providers involved in this process. Let us know if you or your team are interested.
We continue to attend and present PC-BRIDGE updates at New Mexico health councils and community forums to strengthen rural partnerships. Champion team meetings with clinics like yours will continue to focus on study feasibility considerations such as patient population estimates, demographics, clinic capacity, workflow integration, and technology infrastructure. Our goal is to co-design research that works within real-world rural clinical environments and not create additional burden.
