PC-BRIDGE is committed to ensuring our activities are informed by the communities we serve. Engaging with the community in sustainable ways for the duration of our grant through various means, including NM county health councils, primary care provider research networks, and other community health organizations. Champion Teams

To help identify regional rural health priorities, PC-BRIDGE has developed clinic Champion Teams. These teams consist of medical providers, clinic directors, and clinic staff in primary care clinics. Hub staff meet biannually with champion members to discuss research opportunities and update clinic information. We are looking for more clinics to join us in these efforts.

What we would ask of your clinic:

• Create a PC-BRIDGE “champion team” that has 4 members at your clinic (e.g. medical provider, nurse, medical assistant, clinic manager, community health worker), with one person designated as the main contact.
• Work with the UNM team to find a time(s) for the research team to meet with your champion team (~1 hour with a meal provided).
• Champion teams will help researchers and NIH understand how to conduct research that is needed in primary care through activities such as:
  • Answering questions about research topics that are aligned with local health priorities
  • Discussing their clinic’s interest in participating in specific studies
  • Helping researchers learn what is feasible to do in the clinic including how to identify and recruit interested patients (e.g. search the EHR, hang up posters in the clinic)

Resources we will provide:

• A stipend for each member in gratitude for time spent
• A meal if meeting in person
• Any participation in studies will include compensation for patient study participants, and be approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB)
• Summaries of study findings and associated resources available to your team and patients
• If desired, ways to be included in presentations and/or publications about this work and the larger national initiative
