Biography

Dr. Barrett is an assistant professor of Neurology in the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He received a MD degree from University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1975, trained in Internal Medicine at University of California, Irvine from 1975 to 1977 and completed training with a Neurology residency at University of Washington, Seattle from 1977 to 1980. 

Upon completion of training he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and began practice with Neurology Consultants 1980-1999, Southwest Medical Associates 1999-2013, and Lovelace Medical Group 2013-2017. 

Dr. Barrett served as a volunteer faculty member in the UNM Department of Neurology from 1991 to 2017 when he joined the permanent faculty.  His current areas of interest are Child Neurology and Multiple Sclerosis and other central nervous systems autoimmune disorders. 

He is Board Certified in Neurology (1983) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (1996).
