Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: I wanted two things from a pediatric residency. First, I wanted to leave residency a competent, knowledgeable, and well-trained pediatrician, highly experienced in working with a diverse patient population. And second, I wanted to work with a group of fellow physicians who were supportive, kind, and felt like family. I hoped my residency family would consist of caring, thoughtful, and open people who would push me in my training in a positive and safe environment. On the day of my interview, I immediately felt at home and very comfortable participating during morning report. I was able to speak with multiple residents and faculty about their experiences, and it felt like it was a perfect fit. I have felt very supported at UNM, and my residency family has gotten me through some tough months in the hospital. I also love the outdoors, New Mexican food, hiking, and practicing yoga almost every day.
Favorite Things About UNM: I love the people with whom I work; the day would not be the same without them. Our attending are amazing people to work with as well, and I feel supported each and every day. We are a family at UNM, and I truly appreciate that about our program.
Favorite Things About New Mexico: The sunsets are amazing!! If you have not experienced a New Mexico sunset, you are missing out. I love to hike, bike around the city and the bosque, and adventure out of Albuquerque. There is a ton of camping all over the state - lots I still must see!
