The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) is the first national repository for missing persons and unidentified decedent records. Currently OMI is working to enter cases into NamUs.
If you are missing a loved one, you may click the link below to submit a missing person’s report for OMI. We will not reach out to you unless under certain circumstances, please use the upload option to provide any documents or photos of the loved one. We will search for your missing person using our database, searching by name, as well as comparing to our John/Jane does to try to find a match.
File a missing person’s report with The Office of the Medical Investigator. Please fill out this form with as much detail as possible.
Unidentified decedents are people who have died and whose bodies have not been identified. Unclaimed decedents are people who have been identified, where Next-of-Kin has not been located.
Below is the current list of unclaimed decedents. This list is updated on Monday’s and Friday’s. If you find your loved one on the list; please call the Office of Medical Investigator (OMI) at 505-272-5110 and speak with one of the Central Office Deputy Medical Investigators. Please be sure to provide the OMI Case Number. We will provide you with information on the release of your loved one, how to obtain the death certificate, and if you are without financial means for funeral services, we will provide you with your county Indigent Burial Program information.
