What is the Health Sciences Center doing to move Vision 2020 Forward?

 HSC Activities to Work Towards the Realization of Vision 2020

The UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) has taken many steps to work towards the realization of Vision 2020. 

• The HSC has held symposiums where community partners shared their expertise with us
• HSC leadership went on a road trip and visited community partners to identify needs and partnership opportunities
• Acting on recommendations and identifying priorities to focus on based on community feedback
• Tracking outcomes and developing a strategy to partner to improve health outcomes

Two Symposiums have been held to bring community partners to meet with HSC leadership, faculty, and staff and to share recommendations on how to partner to improve health and health equity in their communities.  To find out more about the Vision 2020 Symposiums and recommendations, please visit this page.

Community Visits with HSC Leadership
One of the major recommendations to the HSC was that we needed to go out into the community and hear first hand what the priorities, strengths, and needs are around the state.  To read more about these visits, please read this Vision 2020 e-newsletter.  Additional trips are being planned for the spring of 2012 to the NW and SE part of the state.  The requests from community partners to the leadership of the HSC are being tracked to ensure follow-up is completed.  

Identification of Health Priorities to Focus Efforts
We have started out with a large list of health indicators and outcomes that are being tracked across the nation.  However, we will need to focus our efforts and to do so we will do the following.
