In a bold move to expand public health education opportunities in our state, New Mexico State University (NMSU) is offering a graduate public health certificate to all students—undergraduate and graduate—in both an online and face-to-face opportunity.
Enrollment for the Graduate Public Health Certificate is open to students who have met the admission requirements (see link below), including having taken the GRE. Students that have completed an advanced degree (masters or doctoral level) may apply without having taken the GRE. For students planning to complete an MPH degree, the public health certificate provides 15 credit hours that are transferable to an MPH degree (49 credit hours). Out-of-state NMSU students taking six or less credit hours online per semester may take advantage of in-state tuition rates. Undergraduate students also have an opportunity to earn a public health minor. Dr. Mark Kittleson, Department Head and Professor of Public Health Sciences at NMSU, describes the public health certificate as “a bridge between public health and many fields of study”. Now that’s progress!
