Please submit your decision form by the deadline noted in your acceptance letter, if you have not done so already.
The form was included in your acceptance email from The UNM College of Nursing Office of Admissions and Recruitment: HSC-CON-Admisisons@salud.unm.edu
If you're completing pre-admission classes at an institution other than UNM, please send your official transcripts to UNM Admissions after final grades have been posted.
You must successfully complete and transfer all required prerequisites/pre-admission classes before you can register for nursing courses. Advisors need to see these courses reflected in your UNM record.
You do not need to submit final transcripts with grades to NursingCAS – just UNM Admissions.
If you have a hold on your account, you won't be able to register for classes.
Use LoboWeb to check on any holds you may have:
Log in to my.unm.edu using your NetID and password
Access LoboWeb and click on the “Student” tab.
Select “Registration and Records” and click on “View Holds.”
Types of holds and how to resolve them:
Note: Please have your UNM ID number ready when contacting any UNM office.
"Incomplete Admissions” – Submit final transcripts to UNM Admissions.
“Bursar” Hold – Contact the UNM Bursar's Office.
“Orientation” Hold – Register for UNM New Student Orientation.
Note for Dual Degree BSN students: You have a specific orientation for your program, which is online and self-paced. If it's not listed as your UNM Orientation option yet, check back in a few days. It is a manual process to connect students to this fully online option. If you have already registered for a different orientation, please email hsc-conadvising@salud.unm.edu and be sure to include your UNM ID number and the program you’ve been accepted into.
“Advisement” Hold – This will be resolved by your College of Nursing advisor as part of our internal process.
You do not need to meet with your advisor, unless you have specific questions.
If you'd like to schedule an appointment before the semester starts, go to LoboAchieve.unm.edu and search for "College of Nursing" under "Advising Offices" at the top of the homepage.
Once you are admitted to the UNM College of Nursing, you will need to create a UNM email address, also known as a NetID, if you don't already have one.
For students admitted to UNM branch campuses: You should already have a UNM email address. You can skip this step.
How to create a NetID:
Details for creating your UNM NetID are typically emailed to you after you receive your acceptance documents from UNM Admissions.
You can also find instructions here: https://netid.unm.edu/index.html
Important: You will not be able to register for UNM orientation OR register for UNM classes until you have created a NetID. Once you create a NetID, it usually takes 24-48 hours for your NetID to be updated in all UNM systems.
LOBO CARD
All students must obtain a LoboCard, the official UNM identification card, prior to orientation.
You can have your photo taken at the LoboCard Office or submit an approved photo online.
Full instructions are available through the LoboCard Office website.
HSC BADGE
Freshman Direct-Entry BSN, Albuquerque/Rio Rancho BSN, ABSN, and Graduate Nursing Students:
HSC Badges are mandatory for you.
These badges are typically distributed during your Nursing Orientation (please see the Orientation section at the bottom of this page for more details).
Dual Degree Program & RN to BSN Program Students:
HSC student badges may or may not be required for your program.
You will be notified if an HSC student badge is required for your clinicals.
An HSC badge also provides you with access to UNM libraries, the gym, sporting events, and more.
To request an HSC (Health Sciences Campus) Badge, email your UNM College of Nursing advisor. Find your advisor.
FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY:
All first-time, incoming UNM students are required to complete a New Student Orientation (NSO) for The University of New Mexico.
If you have already completed UNM NSO before your acceptance to the UNM College of Nursing, you do not need to complete it again.
Freshman Direct-Entry and Albuquerque/Rio Rancho BSN Students: Register for UNM New Student Orientation at https://nso.unm.edu/
Dual Degree Program Students: You will complete an online, self-paced orientation. Register and complete that orientation at https://nso.unm.edu/
RN to BSN Program Students: You will complete an online, self-paced orientation. Please connect with The UNM College Enrichment Program to receive your RN to BSN orientation link.
Accelerated 2nd Bachelor’s Degree Program (ABSN) Students: You are required to complete the New Student Orientation unless UNM awarded your previous bachelor’s degree. Register for New Student Orientation at https://nso.unm.edu/
FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY:
You are required to complete an in-person orientation through the UNM College of Nursing.
Your academic advisor will send you information about orientation via email.
HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT ORIENTATION?
Please contact the UNM College of Nursing’s Academic Advising Office.
Attend the UNM College of Nursing Orientation
After completing any required UNM orientation, you are also required to attend the UNM College of Nursing Orientation.
Students admitted to the Freshman Direct-Entry, Albuquerque/Rio Rancho BSN, ABSN and Graduate programs will participate in a designated in-person orientation.
At this orientation, you will receive essential program information, resources and expectations.
Additionally, HSC badge processing will take place during orientation.
Orientation details are usually sent via email to all admitted students. If you haven't received your information or if you have questions, please contact the UNM College of Nursing’s Academic Advising Office.
Registration for classes at UNM can be completed once all holds are resolved and all prerequisites are successfully completed and transferred to UNM.
A registration tutorial can be found in LoboWeb > Student > Registration and Records > Registration (Add / Drop), Course Search, Check for Holds > Then scroll down to just below the registration portal to find helpful videos.
Course Registration Numbers (CRNs) will be sent to your UNM email.
FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY:
Most required Level 1 courses are reserved for students officially admitted to the College of Nursing.
After admission, your Academic Advisor will email you a personalized course list via your NursingCAS and UNM email (if applicable). It's important to register only for the courses listed, as the program follows a lock-step, cohort model—you’ll progress through your courses in a specific sequence with your peers.
Some Level 1 courses are open to non-nursing students, but nursing students receive priority:
FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY:
All graduate-level nursing courses are strictly reserved for students admitted to a graduate nursing program. These courses are not open to undergraduate or non-nursing students under any circumstances.
For questions or assistance, please contact your Academic Advisor.
