Interprofessional Health Outreach Program (IHOP) is a student organization in collaboration with the UNM HSC Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. We coordinate outreach activities to high school students with the goal of inspiring students to pursue health careers as well as giving them the tools they need to make their goals a reality. Our student-led outreach also serves elementary students and community members hosting health-related events in an effort to increase awareness of various health topics and careers and to form connections with members of the community. IHOP outreach knows no bounds as we provide engaging activities in schools, after-school programs, community centers, career fairs to public and private entities both inside and outside of Albuquerque.
IPE Credit
Students who lead and participate in IHOP activities can receive Interprofessional Education (IPE) credits in all categories: Informative, Elective, Interactive, Executive, Innovative, Initiative, Immersive/Reflective. These credits can be applied toward the IPE Certificate of Honors for graduation.
Mentorship
IHOP students leaders are working on a novel mentorship program to further engage students focused on health careers. By way of Mentorship Pods, IHOP mentors and mentees are afforded flexibility and reliability in a group setting while guaranteeing interprofessional participation.
HSC students can serve as general members, in officer positions, or as ambassadors specific to their HSC programs. Our current student leaders are featured below.
