Carolyn Jaramillo has experience in dialysis, home health, hospice, the operating room, school nursing and long-term care. Throughout her career, Carolyn has remained passionate about providing patient-centered care while leading with integrity and empathy. As a first-generation doctoral student, Carolyn understands the value of perseverance, hard work and lifelong learning. Her doctoral work focuses on developing nurse leader-driven strategies to improve nurse retention, create healthier work environments and strengthen the quality of patient care. She believes strong leaders never stop learning and inspire others by serving with compassion.
Ashley McMains is a registered nurse at The University of New Mexico COPE Clinic, where she provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients receiving outpatient psychiatric services. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Ashley is passionate about mental health advocacy, patient education, health equity and improving access to care for underserved communities. At UNM, she has received the Distinguished Teaching Award and the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is proud to continue growing as a nurse while carrying forward the compassion, leadership and commitment to service she developed at the UNM College of Nursing.
