The University of New Mexico College of Nursing laboratories is nearly 1,000 square feet of dedicated shared space for molecular biological experiments. The laboratory is conveniently located in the Med2 Building in the UNM Health Sciences Albuquerque Campus.
It is fully equipped with a Tecan plate reader, a Biorad Opus PCR detector, a DeNovix spectrophotometer, a Simpliamp thermal cycler, a Cytopro cytospin, a pcr hood, centrifuge, ice machine, ultra pure type 1 water, waterbath, Olympus microscope, several balances, a pH meter, a hot plate for tubes, multichannel plate washer, small pcr centrifuge, pipettes, cell culture incubators and a biological safety cabinet.
Several faculty, including Drs. Zychowski, Yu, Ruyak and Kivlighan utilize this resource to assess molecular biomarkers of health and disease for in vitro, in vivo and clinical-based studies.
