Mission Statement for UNM HSC Interprofessional Education

To educate faculty and health professions students in interprofessional communication and collaborative practice to improve the health outcomes of the patients and communities we serve.

The goal of interprofessional education is to prepare faculty and students in the health professions with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for collaborative interprofessional practice.

HSC Strategic Plan

The HSC has incorporated interprofessional education within its Strategic Plan under:

"Strategy 2.2Transform health profession education across the Health Sciences Center (HSC) to meet the needs of our diverse learners, our professions, and our state.

Indicator of Success:  Make necessary changes to assure interprofessional education that meets new accreditation standards."

You may find the accreditation standards for medical, nursing and pharmacy here

As each school/program develops their Strategic Plan and/or expands their curricula to incorporate interprofessional education within their programs, we hope you will share them with the IPE Office for the benefit of the campus and community.
