The University of New Mexico College of Nursing is recruiting an Assistant Dean of Faculty Practice. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for establishing, growing, and maintaining CON’s clinical business infrastructure, supporting faculty practice contracts, and creating revenue-generating clinical services. In collaboration with CON Chief Financial Officer, this role ensures financial feasibility of clinical enterprises and ensures timely reporting of financial status across clinical enterprise to the Associate Dean and other required entities, addresses financial and budget concerns proactively, and serves as a key member of CON Leadership team reporting to the Associate Dean of Community and Clinical Affairs.
The Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs is the leader responsible for overseeing clinical placement, simulation, and staff nurse educators at the College of Nursing. The position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Community and Clinical Affairs and is expected to perform with a high level of responsibility and independence.
This is a leadership position, which includes an active role with the Dean’s Administrative Leadership group; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, interprofessional and community engagement. This person will provide a vital role in the development of nursing students in clinical programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as facilitate a culture of effective mentorship. The incumbent is expected to engage in teaching, maintain an active program of scholarship, and service with a consistent record of funding support appropriate for faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (clinician educator or tenure track).
The University of New Mexico College of Nursing is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Associate Dean of Community and Clinical Affairs, providing strategic leadership in developing and refining the College’s practice mission and activities. The Associate Dean will articulate a compelling, inclusive vision for the future of nursing practice and community affairs within the CON. We are currently recruiting an Associate Professor or Professor with tenure with a strong track record of research, publication and extramural funding. The incoming faculty member will be expected to teach and maintain an active research program. The combination of teaching and scholarly productivity is a fundamental component of research at an R1 University.
Responsibilities include conducting research, teaching, mentoring and advising students, and participating in program activities and committees to ensure program goals are achieved. This position may also involve participating in service projects with internal and external community partners that share the College's mission. The University of New Mexico College of Nursing is seeking applicants for a Tenure/Tenure Track Associate Professor or Professor. The successful applicant will be an outstanding independent scholar with experience in health policy, as demonstrated by extramural funding, implemented policies, and white papers and publications in peer-reviewed journals. The College of Nursing offers a PhD Health Policy Concentration. The concentration is an established, fifteen-year program at UNM College of Nursing. The incumbent will play a key role in continuing to grow this concentration. We are currently recruiting a faculty member for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) position. The primary focus of the position is to teach content in the PMHNP program. This is a 50% or greater full-time effort (FTE) 12-month appointment.
The incoming faculty will advise and teach students in psychiatric mental health nursing, along with maintaining an active clinical practice. We are currently recruiting faculty members for graduate nursing positions. The primary focus is teaching conceptual content for Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (APRN) and/or in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) courses. This is a full-time 12-month appointment. The selected applicant must commit to living in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe metropolitan area.
The incoming faculty will teach and maintain an active New Mexico nursing license specific to their area of teaching. The combination of teaching and clinical experience is a fundamental component of our educational mission. Responsibilities include classroom, online and simulation teaching, mentoring, advising and precepting students, assisting with clinical placements and student oversight, scholarship/service, and participation in program activities and committees to ensure stated program goals are achieved. The University of New Mexico College of Nursing is seeking a Program Specialist to provide day-to-day specialized programmatic and administrative support to the Office of Clinical Placements. The Program Specialist, in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Placements, will work to meet the clinical education demands of the college.
The Program Specialist will lead a dedicated team that supports the clinical placement needs of our learners. The position is essential to helping advance the College’s mission of improving access to health care for all New Mexicans, including clinical experiences in rural and/or underserved communities. This position will oversee the undergraduate arm of clinical placement operations by coordinating the placement of students statewide to provide experiential clinical opportunities for learners from multiple paths to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

As we look forward, our 10-year strategic plan will emphasize the continued increased scaling of our programs and growing the College’s clinical enterprise to meet the critical healthcare demands across the state. The Program Specialist will work to meet the clinical education demands of the college by developing, fostering, and recruiting clinical partners/preceptors for our undergraduate students. This position will plan and coordinate the recruitment and retention of preceptors statewide to provide experiential clinical opportunities for undergraduate nursing learners.
The Program Specialist position is essential to helping advance the CON’s mission of improving access to health care for all New Mexicans. The Program Specialist will be familiar with all facets of developing and implementing systems and processes for effective database utilization internally and by preceptors and partnering healthcare agencies. This role will help ensure the compliance of each nursing student in accordance with clinical partners, accrediting bodies, the Board of Nursing, Federal, State, and institutional policies/guidelines. Additional duties include writing, editing, and coordinating the development of promotional materials, training manuals, and newsletters supporting program objectives. Responsible for phone, email, or in-person outreach with new or existing clinical partners. This position requires travel to clinical sites, trainings, special events, and professional conferences.
The UNM College of Nursing is seeking Training Project Consultants to assist with the Breastfeeding Child Health and Mammary Permeability (CHAMPS) study. The purpose of this study is to learn about how milk composition contributes to a new parent’s milk supply and how, in turn, human milk affects infant health and growth. Primary responsibilities for this position include conducting and/or assisting with prenatal and postpartum lactation support groups at local clinics, conducting home visits to collect research data and biological samples, and providing in-person lactation support as needed, working up to 10 hours per week.
