CCTS Application Information

2019 CCTS applications are now being accepted through May 15. 

Before you begin, it may be helpful to gather the following documents and information. Apply Now!

  • Application Supplement (online)
  • Curriculum Vitae or Biosketch (NIH Format)
  • Personal Statement outlining:
    • Prior relevant experience (personal, educational and/or professional)
    • Overall research interests and long term research/career goals
    • How your participation in this program will enable you to achieve your goals
    • How this program fits into your current training/employment requirements/goals
  • Letter of Recommendation referencing relevant research, academic, and professional work
  • Letter of Support from employer that outlines their support for your participation in this program, including 50% release time for 1 year (July – June) to attend class and complete required assignments
  • New Scholar Agreement (online)
  • Supervisor Agreement/Approval (online)
  • CRAI Assessment (online)

Students must have:

  • Already completed doctoral-level training in the areas of basic science, public health, medical, clinical, engineering or social science (MD, PhD, PharmD, ScD, etc).
  • A strong interest in expanding their skills in Clinical and Translational research

Individuals who are receiving additional training at UNM (i.e. post-doctoral and clinical fellows), or those that are currently employed at UNM as junior faculty are strongly encouraged to apply. Students currently seeking a graduate degree in these areas may also be considered for admission, if space is available.

ANNOUNCEMENT: To all training grant applicants (institutional and individual) and Clinical Fellowship and Residency Program Directors: The Master of Science in Clinical Research and related Certificate programs are excellent opportunities to provide training to Clinical or Research Fellows and/or Junior Faculty. However, due to the limited space available and the increased interest and demand, a Letter of Institutional Support signed by Dr. Shiraz Mishra, MSCR/CCTS Program DIrector, must be obtained PRIOR to listing these training programs in any internal or external grant applications. Please contact the BREP office for more information.

Apply Now!CCTS Application Instructions

Applications for the CCTS Certificate Program are accepted once per year for Summer Admission. Applications will begin being accepted in August (year prior to start), with a May 15 application deadline (year beginning program), for a program start in July.

A complete application requires the following items be completed:

  • UNM Graduate Application through apply.unm.edu with "GCERT Clinical and Translational Science" as the Intended Field of Study
    • College/School: Health Sciences Center (non MD)
    • Department: Graduate Certificate Programs (SOM/HSC)
    • Program/Major: Clinical and Translational Science
    • Degree: GCERT Clinical and Translational Science
    • Interest: General (GCERT-CTS)
  • Application Supplement (online)
  • Official transcripts from every college/university attended will be required.
  • Curriculum Vitae or Biographical Sketch (NIH Format)
  • Personal Statement outlining:
    • Prior relevant experience (personal, educational and/or professional)
    • Overall research interests and long term research/career goals
    • How your participation in this program will enable you to achieve your goals
    • How this program fits into your current training/employment requirements/goals
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Letter of Support from employer (i.e. Department Chair/Program Director/Principal Investigator) that outlines their support for your participation in this program, including 50% release time for 1 year (July – June) to attend class and complete required assignments.

  • CRAI Assessment (online)

Space is limited; applying to the program early is strongly encouraged.
