Central NM STEM Research Challenge is a three-division (elementary, middle and high school students), multiple-category regional student research/engineering design competition. Research Challenge is a Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) Affiliated Fair.
Central NM Regional Science Olympiad tournament is a rigorous academic interscholastic competition that consists of a series of 40+ events offered on one day that run the gamut of STEM-H disciplines. Students prepare for their event(s) during the year and come together to compete for both individual event medals and team trophies as well as the opportunity to move onto State and possibly National competition. Central NM Science Olympiad is affiliated with the National Science Olympiad.
The UNM STEM-H Center manages the SW Region Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (SW JSHS). The Junior Science & Humanities Symposium is a national competition program designed to challenge and engage students in grades 9-12 in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics (STEM). Student researchers submit their research plan, abstract, research paper, slide deck, and display board then present their work orally before panels of judges comprised of STEM-H professionals, researchers, etc. The SW JSHS is affiliated with the National Junior Science & Humanities Symposium
The STEM-H Educator Professional Development Workshops & Online Courses provide educators with opportunities to engage in face-to-face professional development workshops including Research Challenge Bootcamp, Project Management for STEM-H Educators, Safety & Ethics in Student Research, Data Analysis & Statistics, Writing an Effective Research Paper & Abstract, Creating a Successful Slide Deck, Preparing Your Oral Presentation, etc.
