Why Is Compliance Necessary?

As health care costs continue to increase, the government has begun to scrutinize more closely those health care institutions and programs that receive federal money.
Rules and regulations not strictly followed may result in fraud charges against an institution despite a lack of intent to violate the law. Penalties for even apparently innocent violations can be very steep.
As a result, the implementation of health care compliance programs has become standard practice to help prevent potential future legal actions. Such programs help to ensure that a health care institution is in compliance with legal obligations and simultaneously to minimize the likelihood of a government investigation.
