Faculty Development through IPE Workshops

Members of the IPE team conduct the following faculty development workshops, which are repeated as often as needed:

  • IPE 101--Foundational Knowledge

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  1. Describe the mission of the IPE Office and meet the IPE team
  2. Define IPE and IPC core competencies
  3. Describe why IPE is relevant
  4. Discuss challenges of implementing IPE
  5. Value the roles/responsibilities of diverse disciplines’ contributions to
           improving patient/population health outcomes
  6. Network with other faculty interested in IPE
  7. Describe how you can stay involved
  • Designing an Effective IPE Experience

By the end of this workshop you will be able to

    1. Describe and apply Fink’s taxonomy as a framework for developing
             an IPE curricular initiative
    2. Apply a model to evaluate the quality of an IPE activity
    3. Collaborate with a group to present an IPE initiative
    4. Discuss ways to effectively implement your curricular initiative
  • How to Facilitate IPE Student Teams

By the end of this session you will be able to:

    1. Discuss effective communication and facilitation skills that enhance effective learning
             and collaboration across student disciplines.
    2. Observe effective and ineffective facilitation and student team dynamics
    3. Practice giving feedback on effective and ineffective facilitation
    4. Generate ideas to ensure successful and effective student team dynamics.
