Provide aligned, diverse, and integrated programs, activities, tools, and resources focused on the eight (8) elements of wellness to promote quality of life, and build collaborative relationships to support wellness initiatives and programs, which foster a culture of holistic wellbeing.
We offer a variety of services and events, including affordable fitness classes, meditation groups, live music and healthy living tips to improve your life.
Emotional Wellness is our ability to accept and manage our emotions, and work to handle the stresses of life and adapt to changes and difficult times. Being emotionally well doesn’t mean you are happy all the time, but that you are aware of your emotions and able to shift them to feel better.
Why it’s important? Having good Emotional Wellness will lead to fewer negative emotions and better resilience to bounce back from difficulties and changes quicker. Being emotionally well may help you slow down and practice mindfulness.
Physical Wellness is the desire to care for your body by making consistent healthy lifestyle choices such as staying physically active, eating a well-balanced diet, and getting enough restrest. It also includes preventive measures such as seeing your doctor regularly and avoiding harmful substances like tobacco.
Why it’s important? Good Physical Wellness allows us to get through our daily activities without experiencing physical pain or disproportionate fatigue. Pursuing Physical Wellness also promotes mental and emotional wellbeing as you set and achieve goals and sense the positive changes manifesting in yourself.
Occupational Wellness is the balancing of work and leisure time in a manner that allows for healthy habits and personal enjoyment while cultivating a sense of purpose and meaning in your life. What we do occupies so much of our time that it is important that it brings fulfillment to our lives whether this is in our work, school, or hobbies.
Why it’s important? Occupational Wellness is not about what you are achieving but about how you are feeling while achieving it. Managing and alleviating work-place stress, building positive interactions with those you work with, and engaging in tasks that you enjoy all allow you to leave your work at work and focus on your leisure time in more positive ways.
Intellectual Wellness is more than fact or knowledge based. It also involves using creative abilities and also finding ways of stimulating the mind to encourage us to expand our knowledge and skills. This could be through our hobbies, personal interests, community involvement, or through professional growth.
Why it is important? Intellectual Wellness encourages learning which leads to improved balance in life as we explore new ideas and subjects. With this wellness element we improve concentration and memory and cognitive functions as well.
Financial Wellness is the peace of mind that comes with effectively managing your expenses and economic life. Financial Wellness encompasses multiple factors such as current finances, plans for the future, spending within one’s means, being prepared for emergencies, and having access to the tools and information necessary to make good financial decisions.
Why is it important? Financial Wellness is important because it provides the knowledge and tools we need to manage money effectively which brings peace of mind knowing we are taking care of our finances in the present, planning for the future, and ready for any financial emergency that might arrive.
Social Wellness addresses the relationships we have with others and how we interact with them. Social Wellness involves building and participating in trusting, respectful, and positive relationships. These are relationships with friends, family, coworkers, and other people in our lives.
Why is it important? Social Wellness is important as it helps us learn to express ourselves openly, interact positively, and how to build honest relationships with integrity. Social Wellness also helps us learn how to disengage from harmful or toxic relationships.
Environmental Wellness is the positive feeling we get by spending time in pleasant and stimulating environments, both in our personal and professional lives. Environmental Wellness is tied to our sense of safety, comfort, and connection with physical surroundings. This also includes time away from your everyday areas and visiting places that provide a sense of wellbeing and respect for nature and all the beings living in it.
Why is it important? When the areas we spend time in are pleasing to us, we feel a larger sense of comfort and less anxiety. Environmental Wellness also helps us to look at both our immediate surroundings and our planet as a whole and encourages us to recognize and work on habits that affect both positively.
Spiritual Wellness is the sense of being connected to something greater than yourself and acting in accordance with the values and beliefs that develop with this connection. This may or may not involve religious activities and can include developing a sense of purpose and meaning to life that provides wellbeing grounded in this.
Why is it important? Spiritual Wellness can help reduce stress and anxiety as it promotes a ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’ point of view as you focus on a greater connection. Spiritual Wellness can enhance feelings of inner peace and hope, and can help our everyday choices and actions become more consistent with our values and beliefs.
