The purpose of an equity conversation is to create a meaningful opportunity for diverse stakeholders to connect to “why” equity matters to them, to collectively define what equity means and looks like in their local context and to set actionable goals for achieving health equity.
The equity conversation is part of getting people “ready” to lead for equity and to engage in a statewide Health Equity Summit which is scheduled for September 19th (1-5:00 pm Networking Reception & Ignite for Equity Talks) and September 20th (8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Interactive Program).
Each Equity Conversation will have between 30 to 40 participants comprised of diverse stakeholders from the private and nonprofit sectors such as health councils, health systems, community health centers, Indian Health Service and 638 agencies, government (local, tribal, state, federal), University and Education Sector, philanthropic organizations and coalitions.
Participants are invited because of their leadership in tackling health equity issues (within and outside the health care system) for diverse communities in New Mexico (i.e. rural/frontier, tribal, border, racial/ethnic, LGBTQ, persons living with disabilities, immigrants).
