The HSC Financial Aid Office will actively assist any students seeking help for financial aid guidance and advice, and can answer questions regarding tuition and fees, student loans, taxes, housing, and financial wellness.

Scholarships

Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students

• Call for Application:
  • Mid-August
• Deadline:
  • Usually the First Friday after Labor Day
• Audience:
  • Priority 1) Prior Recipients
  • Priority 2) First Generation College Student AND From a High School with 50% Free Reduced Lunch AND High School Below State Graduation Average based on most recent NM Public Education Department numbers (2018 NM Graduation Rate is 73.9%)
  • Priority 3) First Generation College Student AND Economic Disadvantage WHERE Income below SDS 2019 Threshold for House Hold Size OR Received Pell as an Undergraduate
  • Priority 4) Student from a Rural High School AND High School Disadvantage WHERE High School population with 50% Free Reduced Lunch OR High School below State Graduation Average based on most recent NM Public Education Department numbers (2018 NM Graduation Rate is 73.9%)
  • Priority 5) Student received Pell Grant funding as an Undergraduate AND supports legal dependents other than spouse AND responded Yes to Practicing Underserved, Rural, and Primary Care population
  • Priority 6) Based upon essay

  • At Least $8000 ($4000 Fall/$4000 Spring)

Lineberry/Firestone

General Scholarship

Research Based/Special Scholarships

• Audience:
  • Sibbitt Memorial Scholarship: Grad from NM High School; Must have Research; no primary care or private practice
  • Austin Memorial Scholarship: Academic Acheivment; Financial Need; 1st Preference Research based
  • Klecotcka Scholarship Spend: 3.25 GPA; Major interest in the field of respiratory disease; NOT need based
  • Everett Dakan: Native American Student; 1st Preference to Psychiastry; 2nd Preference to Family Practice
