Dr. Robert D. Moseley graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1947 and completed his residency at Shreveport. He joined the University of Chicago in 1949 as an assistant resident in radiology and became professor and chair of the department in 1958. Having previously spent two years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Dr. Moseley returned to New Mexico in 1971 as Professor of Radiology in the UNM School of Medicine and served as chair of the department from 1978 to 1986. Dr. Moseley authored more than 100 publications, several books, and was the recipient of several national and international awards and honors. From 1975 to 1986, he was the official U.S. representative (with ambassadorial status) to the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation. At the time of his death, Dr. Moseley was the President of the International Society of Radiology.
