Michelle Webster Olmsted, MD, received her MD from UNM in 1990, completed a pediatric residency at UNM in 1993 and served as Chief Resident of Pediatrics from 1993-1994. She then joined the faculty in the Pediatrics Department as Instructor (1994-1997) and subsequently Assistant Professor from 1997-2003.
She served as an attending physician in the pediatric clinic and also worked in the Pediatric Endocrine Clinic and Pediatric Endocrine Outreach clinics. Michelle was a tireless advocate for her patients and was active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and served on its national research review board.
After leaving the University faculty in 2003 Michelle served as clinical director of Los Lunas First Choice Community Healthcare, and then entered private practice. She died prematurely in 2010 at the age of 46.
