Dr. Salma Abdelrahim is a resident in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at the University of New Mexico. Originally from Egypt, she earned her initial dental degree in Egypt and practiced dentistry in Qatar before moving to the United States. She later earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.
Her clinical interests include endodontics, implant dentistry, oral surgery, and comprehensive restorative dentistry. Through her AEGD training, Dr. Abdelrahim is focused on expanding her experience in complex dental care and continuing to develop her clinical skills.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Abdelrahim enjoys spending time with her family, painting and exploring the arts, cooking, fishing, and traveling.
Dr. Marquel Hagans is a dentist and resident at the University of New Mexico, where he is continuing his advanced clinical training with a strong focus on comprehensive and surgical dentistry. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry after completing a bachelor's degree in biology.
Before entering dentistry, Dr. Hagans served four years in the U.S. Army as a medic and later worked as a certified nursing assistant, including during the COVID-19 pandemic while attending FSU. These experiences helped develop his commitment to patient care, teamwork, leadership, and serving diverse patient populations.
Clinically, Dr. Hagans has a particular interest in implant dentistry, oral surgery, full-mouth rehabilitation, and comprehensive treatment planning. His professional goals include developing advanced skills in implant placement, bone grafting, sinus augmentation, surgical extractions, and full-arch implant rehabilitation.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Hagans is passionate about fitness, learning Spanish, and giving back to his community through volunteer and outreach initiatives. Dr. Hagans favorite thing to do during off time is watching movies and testing out new recipes in the kitchen.
Hi! I’m Marcy Leakehe Farley. I grew up in a military family and lived all around the US, but I consider Tooele, Utah home. I have undergrad degrees from Brigham Young University and Weber State University, and a MPH from The University of Utah. After 10 years of working as a dental hygienist, I decided to pursue my DMD and graduated last year from Roseman University of Health Sciences.
I chose to do an AEGD to get exposure to advanced dentistry, continued mentorship, and to better my clinical skills. My mom grew up in New Mexico, which put UNM high on my list, and so far this program has been a wonderful opportunity for me to grow and learn.
In my spare time, my husband and I love to explore New Mexico (scenery, culture, and food), play card games, and visit with family. He is intent on turning me into a golfer, but I prefer to caddy and man the snacks! New Mexico is a beautiful place and we are loving our adventure out here.
