Current Studies
We have funding for two longitudinal (multi-year follow-up), observational (no treatment) projects. Both projects are part of large consortiums in which data and biosamples are shared.
The New Mexico Exploratory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) was funded in 2020. We joined 36 other centers that are focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
The Biomarkers in Vascular Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (MarkVCID) study has a focus on how vascular disease, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, can affect memory and thinking. UNM is one of nine universities involved in thia nationwide project, which will recruit almost 2000 participants.
