The Interdisciplinary Substance Use And Brain Injury (ISUBI) center, to be completed in 2022, will focus on two interrelated health priorities of New Mexico: brain injury, and substance abuse. The 16,000 sq ft facility is funded by an NIH construction grant (CO6 ODO28370) and generous institutional support. The Department of Neurosciences has leadership roles in the development and scientific oversight of the facility, which will provide significant new space and opportunities for faculty and trainees. It will house state-of-the art laboratories, and clinical research testing spaces instrumental in the discovery of new treatment mechanisms and testing to ensure efficacy in real-world settings. In addition, this facility will be a hub for HSC-main campus collaborations such as: Grand Challenges, CoBRE Centers, and other interdisciplinary initiatives.
