Hey! I’m Akshay I’m from the suburbs of DC in northern Virginia. I went to college at Johns Hopkins (studied abroad for a year in Oxford, UK) and medical school at Vanderbilt. I am extremely interested in learning about the many ways health policy shape neurosurgical practice and ultimately patient outcomes. Fundamentally, my interest in neurosurgery stems from my desire to help the sickest patients in the hospital. Offering compassionate, effective, and high-value care is one of the greatest expressions of humanity, and neurosurgery is my path to pursuing this ideal.

In my free time I love to spend time with my family and travel – credit card point hacking is one of my favorite pastimes (no seriously come talk to me about credit card points)!
