The UNM Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides outstanding patient care and medical education, developing well-rounded and successful subspecialists. Our providers deliver a comprehensive range of OB/GYN services, including personalized prenatal and postpartum care, breast care, cervical dysplasia treatment, minimally invasive surgery, pediatric and adolescent care, pelvic pain treatment, and vulvar and vaginal care.
As New Mexico’s only academic medical center, we are a key referral center for complex obstetric and gynecological cases throughout the state. Patients come to UNM from underserved and rural communities, and we serve as the primary resource for advanced maternal and gynecological health care. Our faculty and trainees treat a diverse patient population, addressing some of the most complex cases in the Southwest.
The department’s mission is to improve health equity for women and girls through compassionate care, education, and research. Our focus on serving rural and underserved communities is achieved through specialized services, innovative research, and comprehensive training programs.
