Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: I chose UNM because of the people/community. Born and raised around cultural diversity, I wanted to serve and learn from a diverse population rich in traditions and values. The program strongly supports the underserved community and promotes their health advocacy, staying true to the New Mexico spirit. I also considered the program to be very resident-centered, allowing residents to gradually grow and build their skills and practice being a senior very early on in training. Despite going through online interviews and tours, I was able to connect with the faculty and current residents, feel welcomed, and share their passion for serving a unique community. Of course, I cannot forget the beautiful mountains that stand tall and majestic - it is truly a blessing to view these mountains everyday.
