Hometown: Albuquerque, NM |
Why UNM: Extensive exposure to social determinants of health, a unique ethnic demographic compared to most other parts of the country, and the unlimited beauty and adventure to be had in NM!....and chile! |
Favorite Things About UNM: Program really looks out for the wellbeing of the residents, and we are also offered a lot of autonomy to practice as physicians. |
Favorite Things About NM: The views, the mountain biking, the rivers, the skiing, the random tiny towns with the best bars and restaurants, the unique cultural events like Zozobra and Balloon Fiesta. |
Additional Comments: Training at UNM is the modern day equivalent of coming to the Wild West. Due to our unique population, rural environment, and the many social determinants of health you will not only grow the traditional knowledge of medicine, but be forced to challenge your own values and pre-conceived notions of healthcare. You will leave this program a more compassionate, resilient, and discerning provider. |
