The University of New Mexico Center for Development and Disability (UNM CDD) housed within the Department of Pediatrics seeks to hire an open-rank faculty psychologist in the Clinician-Educator track to work within the CDD’s Early Childhood Home and Family Services (ECHFS) Division providing two-generational, trauma-informed clinical care for families enrolled in the FOCUS program as well as developmental and diagnostic evaluation services for children birth to five served by the Center’s Early Childhood Evaluation Program (ECEP).
The FOCUS program is a collaborative effort between the UNM CDD and the Departments of Pediatrics and Family and Community Medicine. The program uses an innovative integrated clinical and community-based care model that includes a family medical home and home- and community-based early childhood developmental and mental health services designed to serve the complex and layered needs of families struggling with substance use, adversity, and often complex trauma from a humanistic lens. Services are “two-generational”, relational, and include access to caregiver mental health and substance use treatment, as well as services to support the developmental and socio-emotional needs of young children impacted by prenatal substance exposure and parental substance use.
ECEP is a statewide, interdisciplinary tertiary service providing team-based developmental, diagnostic, and specialized evaluation services for infants, toddlers and preschool-age children who present with complex needs. The team also provides training and consultation for Part C early intervention providers working with children seen in this specialized clinic.
The ideal candidate for this position will have direct clinical experience providing dyadic/two-generational, developmentally and trauma-informed interventions for caregivers and young children, and, will possess experience providing mental health care services as part of an integrated care team. Experience with one of the following evidence-based intervention models: Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Circle of Security interventions (COS), and/or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is required; experience providing developmental and psycho-social assessments for young children, bilingual skills in Spanish/English, and experience providing staff/trainee clinical and reflective supervision is preferred.

The Children’s Hospital of the University of New Mexico has a level one pediatric trauma designation and the only pediatric emergency department in the state. Excellent pediatric services are available including imaging, intensive care, ophthalmology, surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation. We serve a diverse population of patients from both rural and urban areas of New Mexico as well as from many Native American tribes/pueblos. The institution is located in Albuquerque, a picturesque city, located at the base of the Sandia Mountains, and home to the International Balloon Fiesta. Child maltreatment services are provided by two full time board certified child abuse pediatrician, one part time child abuse pediatrician, and a nurse practitioner who staff Para Los Ninos (PLN) and the Child Abuse Response Team (CART.) CART responds to child physical abuse and neglect cases while PLN responds to child sexual abuse cases. PLN is an off-site clinical program located at the Albuquerque Family Advocacy Center which serves victims of child sexual abuse, sexual assault and domestic violence. Our programs serve over 1000 patients each year. The successful candidate will assume clinical responsibility with both CART and PLN.

UNM is the main referral center for the entire state and surrounding areas. The Department of Pediatrics at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine is seeking two Open Rank/Open Track faculty colleagues for full-time positions with clinical and academic responsibilities in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics.
Clinical duties are in a busy outpatient group practice. This includes primary care for the community, including children with complex medical conditions and/or social situations, resident continuity clinic and urgent care teaching clinic. Primary care clinics have NCQA PCMH (patient-centered medical home) recognition. The Urgent Care Clinic acuity includes evaluation and management of patients who may require admission to the PICU and hospitalist services. Inpatient duties include newborn and/or intermediate care nursery. Clinical responsibilities involve weekday, evening, weekend and holiday hours as well as overnight parent telephone advice call. Schedules are organized 6-12 months in advance.
In this position the successful candidate will care for patients ranging in age from birth through adolescence, in an ethnically and medically diverse population. The University of New Mexico (UNM) Prevention Research Center (PRC) invites applications for an Assistant Professor, research track, to lead studies related to health promotion and prevention for children and families, to begin immediately.
The UNM PRC is one of 26 PRCs in a network of academic research centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The centers, located across the United States, study how people and their communities can improve health outcomes and avoid or counter the risks for chronic illnesses. The centers work in partnership with communities to develop, implement, evaluate and improve initiatives that can promote health and prevent chronic disease. They also translate research results into policy and practice, and share findings broadly with national, state, and community partners. The UNM PRC has been continuously funded since 1995 and is conducting dozens of projects that a spectrum of national and state agencies and foundations support.
We seek a candidate who can provide leadership in sustaining and expanding the ongoing robust and exciting research of the PRC, particularly in areas related to behavioral health, children and their families and communities. The successful candidate will have familiarity with using mixed methods, collecting data, using administrative databases, advanced statistical methods, and disseminating findings for other research professionals as well as for non-scientists. The candidate will have a track record of writing proposals to obtain support for research studies. An important role will be to mentor staff and students in conducting community-engaged research.
